Cherries and cocoa are main stars here. The smoothie is thickened with banana and rolled oats (and ice, if using). Vanilla extract and cinnamon give another layer of flavor.
Great for breakfast or for a delicious afternoon snack for grown-ups as well as for kids.
- 1/2 cup cherries frozen
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup milk of choice
- sweetener of choice (stevia, honey, agave syrup, maple syrup, etc)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- a dash of cinnamon
- OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS: crushed ice, whipped topping
Put cherries, cocoa, banana, rolled oats, milk, sweetener, vanilla and cinnamon in your blender and blend until smooth. (If using frozen cherries you will not need any ice.)
OPTIONAL STEP: Pour into a tall glass and garnish with whipped topping, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry.
